Mark Waugh, a former cricketer from Australia, chastised West Indies starter Kjorn Ottley during the third and final One-Day International on February 6 at Canberra’s Manuka Oval. Notably, Australia finished the series with a 3-0 clean sheet and won the last One-Day International by eight wickets.
Australia chose to bowl first and dismissed the West Indies for a pitiful 86 runs in 24.1 overs. With a 4/21, Xavier Bartlett was the most impressive bowler. Josh Inglis, the wicketkeeper-battler, was instrumental in helping the hosts chase down the mark in 6.5 overs with his unbeaten 35 from 16 balls.
Shai Hope and company faced harsh criticism for their awful performance against the World Champions, and the match ended as a one-sided contest. During the game, Waugh, who was the commentator, specifically criticized Ottley for his inability to earn eight points off of seven deliveries. He was the first person Bartlett victimized, and the Australian icon became enraged at the way he was written off, labelling him an “idiot.”
In the third over, Kjorn Ottley was up against Bartlett, who struck a full, swinging delivery from the middle. It hit his pads after the Windies batter botched his attempt to push it away. The umpire gave out when the hosts made an LBW protest. Ottley decided not to review after consulting with Alick Athanaze, his starting partner. Had Ottley requested a review, he would have gone back to batting because the replays clearly revealed an inside edge.

“Not sure if we can make sense of it; our batters let us down,” the Windies captain said in response to the team’s performance. We must conduct a thorough search. It’s difficult to pinpoint just one factor; it all comes down to mindset. There aren’t many things to examine, but we didn’t play as well as we could have.”
