According to Australian all-rounder Marcus Stoinis, the Indian Premier League (IPL) will not benefit bowlers or significantly alter the game if saliva usage is reinstated. Even so, he acknowledged that it might open the door for its reinstatement in international white-ball cricket.
Sportstar cited Marcus Stoinis as stating, “I don’t think it will make a massive difference in white-ball cricket, but it might pave the way for the rule to come back (in international cricket).”
The Punjab Kings player, however, was overjoyed by another IPL rule change that allows the bowling team to request a new ball after the first ten overs in the second innings in nighttime matches in order to counteract the dew problem.
The decision to switch the ball midway through the second inning is excellent because the dew does have a significant impact at that point in the game. Therefore, it is something that should help level the playing field and reduce the teams’ dependence on the toss’, the 35-year-old stated.
As the Punjab Kings attempt to finally end their title drought, Marcus Stoinis, who has retired from ODIs but still hopes to play for Australia in the 20216 T20 World Cup, claimed his second tenure with the team will be more productive.
“We’re here to prevail. Although this franchise hasn’t achieved success yet, we think our team is excellent on paper. The player, who played 19 games with the Kings from 2016 to 2019, stated, “We have a real opportunity to build something for at least the next three years and establish sustained success for this team.”
