“One of the best ever is Virat. He will want to use this series as his platform given his age and stage in his career. The top athletes always select the top series. His skill was on display at the T20 World Cup. It is a sign of how ravenous he is. He is undoubtedly the one who can set us back, so if we want to win the series, we’ll need to defeat him. With a win or a draw in any of the four matches for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Australia, which currently leads the World Test Championship standings, will be guaranteed a spot in the World Test Championship Final. India, on the other hand, will require a crushing victory over the Australian squad to secure their spot in the championship game. To secure their position, they will need to win the series by a score of 4-0, 3-1, or 3-0. Any less would mean that they would have to rely on other outcomes in order to have a chance of making the final.
Prior to the first Test of the series in Nagpur, injuries have been dealt with for both Australia and India. Without important players like Rishabh Pant, Jasprit Bumrah, and Shreyas Iyer, India would not be as strong. At least for the first Test, Australia would be missing Josh Hazlewood, Mitchell Starc, and Cameron Green. Before departing for Delhi for the second Test, both teams will be eager to get the upper hand when they square off against one another on February 9.
