Marcus Stoinis, a prominent all-rounder for Australia, said that his exclusion from the ODI squad for the match against the West Indies makes “perfect sense” following the 2023 ODI World Cup in India. During Australia’s title-winning campaign, Stoinis’s performance fell short of expectations; in six games, he only managed to score 87 runs and claim four wickets.
Matt Short and Aaron Hardie were named to the 13-man ODI team before Marcus Stoinis. It is important to mention that throughout the previous year, the 34-year-old has not been playing well in one-day cricket.
“We discussed choices and the news that Hardie will be joining yesterday. I believe that’s very clever. Considering how well he has been playing, I believe he is ready to be exposed to international cricket. That, in my opinion, makes perfect sense following a World Cup: there needs to be a balance struck between rotating in new players and maintaining the core.

“I plan to play Twenty20 cricket for Australia for as long as I can and as long as they want me to.” I think I’ve played well in both T20 and international cricket.
