Manoj Tiwary Criticizes 'Disinterested' Glenn Maxwell After RCB's Eliminator Loss

Glenn Maxwell removed himself from the game after taking a reckless shot on the opening ball, when the team needed a prudent innings. In the field, he was dreadful as well, missing a sitter off Tom Kohler-Cadmore. Manoj Tiwary, a former cricketer for India, was harsh on Maxwell for his poor performance and claimed that the Australian had no desire in the IPL.

On May 22, in the Indian Premier League 2024 Eliminator, Rajasthan Royals defeated Royal Challengers Bengaluru. With the loss, RCB’s six-match winning streak and their IPL trophy quest were forfeited. Faf du Plessis joked during the post-match presentation that the team was at least 20 runs short, despite the fact that many things did not go their way during the game.

The most noticeable player in the RCB hitting order was Glenn Maxwell.

“You play for Australia and have a great deal of experience playing international cricket. But I’m not sure what happens to him until you get to the IPL. He doesn’t seem to be interested. He doesn’t give a damn if he escapes. His bank balance is fine, and the cheque will reach him on schedule (bank balance thik hai). He enjoys getting together at night, laughing, and taking pictures,” Manoj Tiwary wrote on Cricbuzz.

The trophy is the outcome, and it is absent: Manoj Tiwary

After trailing at the tenth position in the first half, the Men-in-Red staged a stunning recovery for the elderly, winning six straight games in the second half. After his team’s elimination from the Eliminator, Du Plessis emphasized the same point and seemed pleased with their performance. But Tiwary said that winning the trophy is every team’s ultimate objective, and Bengaluru fell short in that regard.

“What is the final outcome? You compete to succeed. We were sitting here, analysing Bengaluru’s poor performance and trying to figure out why. They may be pleased that they qualified by winning six straight games, but ultimately, what matters is the trophy, which is absent. Thus, the issue exists,” he continued.
