Manoj Tiwary backs Abhimanyu Easwaran to replace KL Rahul in India's Test Team

In the first Test match against New Zealand in Bengaluru, senior Indian batsman KL Rahul only managed to score 12 runs, failing to take full advantage of the chance. As he did in South Africa, captain Rohit Sharma supported him to perform well. However, the middle order batsman suffered greatly against good pace bowling, and as a result, his place in the starting lineup is once again in doubt. Rahul might be replaced in the Test team by one of the several batters who have performed well recently in domestic cricket, according to former player Manoj Tiwary.

Abhimanyu Easwaran, a Bengali batsman who has been in the scheme of things for a while but has never been given consideration for the Test cap, was specifically chosen by him. The 29-year-old recently scored consecutive hundreds in the Irani Cup, the Duleep Trophy, and even the first round of the Ranji Trophy against Uttar Pradesh. Tiwary supported Easwaran to succeed Rahul because he had scored four hundreds in a row overall.

“If you average 33.98 over 91 innings of play… Since several of India’s batsmen are routinely producing well, even in domestic cricket, why not reconsider KL Rahul’s position? As Tiwary informed.

If Sarfaraz is at No. 4 in a Test match, you may get a performance out of him. Although Abhimanyu Easwaran is a specialized opener and a player to whom we have undoubtedly assigned the title of “opener,” based on his statistics, there have been very few innings in his most recent games in which he has failed to make a century. Since he is in form, bring him in and give him a go as a middle-order hitter. Why not? He went on.

Selectors will continue to support KL Rahul: Manoj Tiwary

Tiwary knows that the Indian team management will continue to support Rahul because he has the skills and experience necessary to be successful in red-ball cricket, even though he still supports Easwaran. He did, however, reiterate that the selectors should also watch the domestic players.

However, as far as I can tell, the selectors will continue to support Rahul because to his experience and technical soundness as a batter. However, consistent performances are also necessary, and they should be evaluated in a 1:3 ratio.

The former Bengal cricket player stated, “If you can’t score a ton in three innings in this competitive age, there are a lot of players waiting in the wings, hoping for an opportunity, and are banging on the selectors’ doors.”
