In the thrilling match between the Rajasthan Royals (RR) and the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on Saturday, April 19, Vaibhav Suryavanshi made his debut at the age of 14 years and 23 days, becoming the youngest player in IPL (Indian Premier League) history. The game was played in Jaipur’s famous Sawai Mansingh Stadium, which is noteworthy.
As they chased a 181-run goal in the second innings, the youthful player started the batting for the first-ever champions. He stunned everyone, including bowler Shardul Thakur, with a six off the first ball he faced. The Bihar-born batsman gave his team a strong start with a 20-ball 34 that included three sixes and two fours.
Yashasvi Jaiswal and Vaibhav Suryavanshi compiled an 85-run partnership for the first wicket.
Sanjay Manjrekar, a former cricket player for India, referred to Vaibhav Suryavanshi as a “wonder boy” and said that his parents would have been proud to watch his mature knock. The former cricket player and now analyst also gave the Rajasthan Royals credit for letting the young player demonstrate his abilities at the top of the order.
