Shrinivas Mandhana, the father of Smriti Mandhana, the World Cup winner for India, was released on Monday morning after being admitted to Sangli on Sunday, November 23, the day Smriti and musician-filmmaker Palash Muchhal were to tie the knot.
According to an India TV report, doctors found no blockages during the evaluation’s angiogram, indicating that Shrinivas is entirely stable and safe.
The Mandhana family’s unexpected medical emergency resulted in an indefinite postponement of the wedding. Tuhin Mishra, Smriti’s manager, had already stated that Shrinivas’ health declined during breakfast.
“Smriti Mandhana father’s health declined this morning while he was eating breakfast.
We hoped he would recover, so we waited. However, when things became worse, we phoned for an ambulance and rushed him to the hospital, where he is being monitored,” Mishra said, as reported by the Times of India.
For those who don’t know, soon after Shrinivas was admitted to the hospital, Smriti’s fiancé, Palash, was also taken to a hospital in Mumbai. According to reports, Palash contracted a virus and developed severe acidity as a result of the stress accumulation. Soon after, his condition considerably improved, and he was released. It is thought that Smriti put off the wedding because of her father’s illness and hospitalisation.
Regarding Smriti’s recent on-field achievements, she finished second in the 2025 Women’s World Cup in terms of runs scored. In nine innings, she scored 434 runs at an average of 54.25 and a strike rate of 99.08. In the competition, she scored one hundred and two fifties. Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) recently signed her before the 2026 Women’s Premier League mega-auction.
