Mandhana, Jemimah, Radha to get ₹2.25 crore from Maharashtra govt

The Maharashtra government would award three Maharashtra players, Smriti Mandhana, Jemimah Rodrigues, and Radha Yadav, INR 2.25 crore apiece, for their participation in the Women’s World Cup 2025 winning team. On November 2, at the Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai, India Women defeated South Africa by 52 runs to win their first ICC title.

Mumbai-born head coach Amol Muzumdar will also receive a cash award of INR 22.5 lakh. In addition to announcing the Cabinet’s decision, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said the entire women’s cricket team would receive congratulations upon their visit to Mumbai.

The Cabinet passed a resolution today expressing its congratulations to the women’s cricket team for their outstanding performance in winning the ICC World Cup. In a similar vein, the Maharashtra government will congratulate three Maharashtra players—Jemimah Rodrigues, Smriti Mandhana, and Radha Yadav—and award them with financial prizes in accordance with our policy. The Hindu cited Fadnavis as saying, “They have made the country proud.”

According to the government’s sports strategy, coaches would receive INR 22.5 lakh, while athletes who win gold in World Cups, World Championships, or Para World Championships will receive INR 2.25 crore each. Conversely, athletes who win gold at the Olympics or Paralympics earn INR 3.75 crore, while coaches earn INR 37.5 lakh.

Athletes who win gold at the Asian or Commonwealth Games receive separate reward money from the government. Each of them receives INR 75 lakh. The winners of the Chess Olympiad, meanwhile, get INR 1 crore.

Mandhana and Jemimah played nine and eight games, respectively, whereas Radha only participated in three (the final, the semi-final, and the last league match).

Player of the Match went to Shafali Verma (87 off 78 and 2/36 in 7 overs), while Player of the Tournament went to Deepti Sharma (215 runs and 22 wickets).

In the league phase, the Women in Blue came in at number four. They were the side who won the title, nevertheless, since they gave it their all in the knockout stages. Next year, in February and March, the Women in Blue will play Australia in an all-format series.
