Malolan Rangarajan on how RCB management ensured smooth player retention process

Assistant coach Malolan Rangarajan gave an explanation of the reasoning behind the retentions and the team’s plans for the auction and later in the season. RCB will enter the WPL 2025 Auction with a purse of INR 3.25 Crore.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru Women, the current Women’s Premier League (WPL) winners, will try to duplicate their 2024 results in the 2025 competition. On Thursday, November 07, the team revealed their retentions ahead of the crucial competition. Notable players like Ellyse Perry and Shreyanka Patil were kept, along with their captain and opener Smriti Mandhana.

Disha Kasat, Indrani Roy, Nadine de Klerk, Shubha Satheesh, Shraddha Pokarkar, and Simran Bahadur are among the names that the franchise released. The team significantly strengthened their roster by adding the top English player and trading Danni Wyatt-Hodge.

“As far as the management is concerned, I believe they believe in the entire process we’ve gone through in both the previous and current WPLs, not simply the individuals that were retained. Being a part of both the IPL and WPL setup has been a blessing for me, and I would say that the management has been consistent throughout the entire retention process.

They were really calm, and it ran concurrently with the IPL. Rangarajan explained, “They’re a group of people who understand all sides of the facets that we bring on the table, and they’ve been very consistent. Once the recommendations were given, they were able to debate and deliberate because they most importantly understood where the captain and the coaching staff were coming in.”

Regarding the concept of WPL retention, Malolan Rangarajan

In my opinion, it is crucial for the coaching staff to keep in mind what worked for us both on and off the pitch during the previous season and to uphold the fundamental principles we had both on and off the pitch. Our decisions should be guided by that rather than dictated. In light of those considerations, we developed the set of retentions. After giving careful consideration to our recruitment strategy, we added a few seasoned players to the latest auction. Thus, it has remained cohesive and provided us with a solid foundation upon which to build,” Rangarajan added.

Malolan Rangarajan is prepared for the WPL 2025 Auction.

“Between now and the auction, we’ll hold a few camps for our players, and I’d like to mention for the players of interest. This will help us figure out who we need to target and who we could have as backups, as well as help us create our shortlist of players for the auction.

” Therefore, the goal would be to hold a camp before the December auction in the hopes of obtaining the team we’re seeking,” he said.
