Due to a groin injury, Lungi Ngidi will not be participating in the Sri Lanka series or  Pakistan tour

The last time South Africa’s bowler Lungi Ngidi was spotted on the pitch was during the third ODI match against Ireland in October. Given that he gave up 70 runs in nine overs without taking any wickets, the pacer seemed a little pricey. As part of his planned conditioning time, the bowler was supposed to return for the forthcoming Test series against Sri Lanka, but a medical evaluation has shown bilateral proximal adductor tendinopathy.

The effort causes adductor tendinopathy in the vicinity of the groin area, and since Ngidi bowls fast, it makes sense to keep up the workload. In addition to missing the Test series against Sri Lanka due to this injury, he will also be unavailable for the all-format tour against Pakistan, according to a statement released by Cricket South Africa. Accordingly, the right-arm pacer won’t be able to play until January 2025.

Lungi Ngidi, will not play in the forthcoming Test series against Sri Lanka or the all-format trip against Pakistan

Due to a groin injury, Lungi Ngidi, the fast bowler for the Proteas Men, will not play in the forthcoming Test series against Sri Lanka or the all-format trip against Pakistan. As part of his rigorous conditioning program, the 28-year-old just had a medical evaluation, and scans showed bilateral proximal adductor tendinopathy. He is anticipated to resume playing in January after starting a rehabilitation program, according to a statement from CSA.

The statement also stated that Temba Bavuma, the Test captain, is making good progress in his recuperation from a left elbow injury. He will have a fitness test on Monday, November 18, to ascertain whether he is available for the two-match Test series against Sri Lanka, which begins in Durban on November 27.

Here’s CSA’s latest post on ‘X’:

The Proteas Test skipper, Temba Bavuma, hasn’t participated in an international match since October. Due to an elbow injury that kept him out of the game, he is hoping that the medical reports will allow him to return.
