“Litton has all the makings of a good captain,” said Salahuddin

Despite having just one half-century in T20Is over the past 12 months, Litton enjoys the support of the team management.

Litton Das supports long-term captaincy as the secret to Bangladesh's success, saying, "You can think about a lot of things."

Assistant coach Mohammad Salahuddin believes Litton Das has demonstrated the ability to continue as Bangladesh’s T20I captain until the T20 World Cup the following year. After Litton’s nomination was questioned after Najmul Hossain Shanto resigned earlier this year, the endorsement was given.

In the past 12 months, Litton has only scored one half-century and has a strike rate of 101.76. He was recently rested from the Test team and lost his spot in the ODI squad. He will, however, be leading Bangladesh in the two-match Twenty20 International series against the United Arab Emirates in Sharjah next week.

When Bangladesh defeated the West Indies 3-0 in their own stadium last December, Salahuddin believes Litton demonstrated sufficient leadership abilities. Despite only scoring 17 runs, Litton made some bold choices under duress that allowed Bangladesh to dominate the host team.

“From the Litton I knew for a long time to the one I saw leading the team [in the West Indies], it is like night and day,” Salahuddin stated during a news conference held on Sunday in Dhaka. “You’ll see the difference if you watch one of his most recent interviews. I believe the guys can adapt to the circumstance more quickly if they are given the right guidance. We must all help the captain. He has the ability to inspire the athletes. His strategy is sound. He’s attempting to move it along. If given the freedom to work on his own, I believe he will perform well. A leader cannot be created.

Litton, in my opinion, possesses every quality that makes a good captain.

Salahuddin also underlined the difficulties that Bangladesh’s captaincy presents. “We have to acknowledge that he is the captain of Bangladesh, which, to us, represents the entire nation. Despite the fact that it may appear simple on the surface, leading Bangladesh is a really challenging job. It is a fool’s paradise for those who believe it to be simple.

Litton is most likely the lone option for captaincy in Bangladesh’s current T20I team following Shanto’s resignation. Since Mehidy Hasan Miraz was removed from the format, the squad lacks a definite leadership group. That much is implied by Mahedi Hasan’s appointment as vice captain.

Salahuddin remarked, “We haven’t performed collectively,” “We must acknowledge that our performance is not always at its best. It’s a difficult task. We experience sharp fluctuations in our performance. Due to their emotional nature, our people find it difficult to accept that they don’t always perform the same in games.

Bangladesh’s T20 cricket season is long. They will play three T20Is against Sri Lanka, five against Pakistan, two against the United Arab Emirates, three more against Pakistan in July, and three against India in August if their calendar stays the same.

The team must improve their batting in advance of this hectic schedule, according to Salahuddin. “We held some skill-development-focused training sessions. The players’ fitness has also been emphasised. We don’t often get the opportunity to switch between series so quickly. We want them to become more skilled and fit. We practiced abilities that would be useful because there are some shots that we can’t use in the middle.
