Litton Das’ removal from the Asia Cup 2023 has handed Bangladesh a devastating blow, as he will no longer play for Bangladesh. Notably, Litton missed the team’s trip to Sri Lanka for the ACC competition because he was unable to recuperate from viral fever.

Litton Das withdrawal from the lineup was confirmed by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) selection committee, which also announced Litton’s replacement.

He will be replaced by wicketkeeper-batter Anamul Haque Bijoy, who will likely depart for the Island nation later on August 30.

The Chairman of the National Selection Panel, Minhajul Abedin, spoke candidly about the like-for-like replacement and claimed that Anamul was never expected to succeed in the arrangement.

He (Anamul Haque Bijoy) has been successful in domestic cricket, and the Bangladesh Tigers program has continued to keep an eye on him. He was constantly on our minds. We required a top-order batsman who could keep wicket because Litton (Das) was unavailable, and Anamul was chosen, according to Minhajul Abedin, who was mentioned by the ICC.

Anamul has played in 44 ODIs and scored 1254 runs at an average of 30.58, including five fifty-plus runs and three centuries. In the third ODI encounter against Team India in 2022, he made his final appearance, scoring a pitiful eight from seven balls.

Ebadot Hossain, a pacer, had already been announced as being unable to compete in the ACC competition due to a knee injury sustained during the ODI series against Afghanistan in July. In light of this, the think tank chose to support 20-year-old uncapped pacer Tanzim Hasan as Ebadot’s replacement. Ebadot is currently recovering in order to be ready for the 2023 ODI World Cup, which is scheduled to take place in October.

On August 31, the Bangla Tigers will play the co-hosts of the tournament, Sri Lanka, at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Kandy.

Recent additions to the Bangladeshi team include: Shakib Al Hasan (captain), Najmul Hossain Shanto, Tawhid Hridoy, Mushfiqur Rahim, Afif Hossain Dhrubo, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Taskin Ahmed, Hasan Mahmud, Mustafizur Rahman, Shoriful Islam, Nasum Ahmed, Shak Mahedi Hasan, Naim Sheikh, Shamim Ho
