Litton Das and Tamim Iqbal, two of Bangladesh’s best batsmen, have requested respite in the third one-day international in the series after their team was defeated by New Zealand by 86 runs in the second ODI. Tamim, in an interesting turn of events, recently rejoined the team after a lengthy absence due to injuries. However, the cricketer has requested another vacation before the 2019 ODI World Cup after only two games.
Notably, captain Shakib Al Hasan was taking a break from the current series, and Litton Das took over as captain.
Habibul Bashar has acknowledged the developments about Litton and Tamim, however the Bangladesh Cricket Board or the selectors have not yet named the captain for the third ODI.
For the third and final ODI against New Zealand, Litton will be rested. He joined the team at the Asia Cup after overcoming his viral illness, so he needed some downtime before going back for the World Cup. Tamim, on the other hand, requested a break after playing the second ODI because he was experiencing some back pain. By today, the medical staff will evaluate his condition and make a decision, according to Bashar, who spoke to The Daily Star.
Taskin Ahmed and Shoriful Islam, two pacers, will be available for selection in the third ODI of the series, it has been revealed. However, in the previous game, Khaled Ahmed and Mahedi Hasan both grabbed three wickets thanks to their outstanding bowling. Although the bowlers did a remarkable job of holding Bangladesh to 254 runs, the team’s batters have fallen short.
Tamim Iqbal got off to a strong start at the plate by scoring 44 runs. But because wickets kept falling from the other end, none of the hitters were able to help him out very well. While under pressure, Mahmudullah, who was returning, displayed class by scoring 49 runs, but his side was unable to cross the finish line. Notably, the opening game of the series was postponed due to weather, giving New Zealand a 1-0 series advantage.
