List of All Women Premier League Franchise Owners, Beginning with Adani Sportsline and Ending with Royal Challengers Sports

Wednesday was the day that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) made public the names of the teams that triumphed in the first ever iteration of the Women Premier League.

The board was able to obtain a combined sum of INR 4669.99 crore from the five successful bids for the ownership of the franchises.

The amount paid by Adani Sportsline to purchase the Ahmedabad franchise was the highest of any of the five total franchises. They paid a total of INR 1289 crore to do so.

Indiawin Sports came in second place, and their bid of INR 912.99 crore was successful enough to gain them the rights to the Mumbai franchise.

The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) were the only men’s Indian Premier League franchise to be successful in acquiring a team.

Both JSW GMR Cricket and Capri Global Holdings were successful in their bids to become the owners of the Delhi and Lucknow franchises, with the former paying 810 crores and the latter 757 crores.

The following is a list of the women who own Women’s Premier League franchises:

1. The Ahmedabad franchise was sold to Adani Sportsline Pvt. Ltd. for a total of Rs. 1289 crores.
2. lndiawin Sports Pvt. Ltd. has purchased the Mumbai franchise for 912.99 billion rupees
3. Royal Challengers Sports Pvt. Ltd.: Bangalore for 901 crores of rupees
4. JSW GMR Cricket Pvt. Ltd., Delhi, for 810 crores of Indian rupees
5. Capri Global Holdings Pvt. Ltd. has purchased the Lucknow franchise for 757 million rupees.

Jay Shah, the secretary of the BCCI, took to Twitter to make the announcement that the board has received some staggering bids for the maiden edition of the Women’s Indian Premier League.

In point of fact, the offers were more than the amount of money that the BCCI had managed to collect for the very first season of the men’s Indian Premier League, which took place in 2008.

“Today is a momentous day in cricket, as the bidding for teams of the first Women’s Premier League shattered the records set by the inaugural Men’s Indian Premier League in 2008! We received a total bid of Rs.4669.99 Cr, thus our sincere congratulations go out to the victors.

This event heralds the start of a revolution in women’s cricket and lays the way for a journey that will be transformative not only for our women cricketers but for the entire sports community as a whole.

The Women Premier League would introduce much-needed changes to the sport of women’s cricket and would assure the existence of a comprehensive ecosystem that is beneficial to all parties involved.

The Women Premier Competition is the new name that the BCCI has given to the league (WPL). Jay Shah wrote on Twitter, “Let the journey begin…..”
