RP Singh added that Siraj’s workload needs to be closely watched, just as Jasprit Bumrah’s is being efficiently controlled. In the previous Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Siraj played all five games and claimed 20 wickets. He also participated in all five Test matches in the series.
In order to avoid injuries, former Indian cricket player RP Singh highlighted the importance of properly managing Mohammed Siraj’s workload. In the just finished Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, Siraj bowled 185.3 overs and took 23 wickets, finishing as the series’ top wicket-taker.
“Workload management will be essential to preventing further injuries to Siraj. Fast bowlers who play too many games in a short period of time are more likely to sustain injuries. We should handle his workload similarly to how we handled Bumrah’s. Bumrah’s outstanding bowling performance in both the ODI and T20 World Cups can be attributed to improved workload management. Siraj is in the same league as well. We must eventually give his task our full attention in order to prevent injuries,” Singh stated, as reported by The Indian Express.
The only bowler who participated in all five Test matches and bowled with complete vigour and intensity was Siraj. One of his top five quickest deliveries in the series was the final delivery that bowled out the batsman. This demonstrates his constant effort. He contributed more than expected to the team and concentrated on bowling with the proper line and length. Throughout, his rhythm and level of fitness were superb,” Singh continued.
Siraj’s contribution was essential to Bumrah’s triumph: RP Singh
In the fifth and final Test at the Oval, Siraj cleaned up Gus Atkinson with a yorker at 143 km/h to ensure India’s victory. In the series, he bowled the fifth-fastest delivery. One of the main reasons for Bumrah’s success, according to the former left-arm pacer, has been Siraj’s function as a support bowler.
“Bowlers want to bowl in pairs, just as batsmen require partnerships. Bumrah typically takes more wickets, and batters are more troubled by his unusual style of play. Building pressure from his end is Siraj’s responsibility, and he excels at it. Their collaboration has been unique and has produced outstanding performances. Siraj becomes our primary fast bowler when Bumrah is not playing for us, Singh said.
