Against Afghanistan in the second Twenty20 International of the series, left-arm seamer Arshdeep Singh took three wickets for 32 runs at Indore. Notably, the young player has struggled with consistency recently, but he has performed well in the current series, which will provide him momentum moving into the third Twenty20 International in Bengaluru, which is also India’s final Twenty20 International match before the Twenty20 World Cup.
The youthful pacer destroyed the Afghan middle order in the previous game, taking out Najibullah Zadran, Karim Janat, and Noor Ahmad. It enabled India to limit the opposition to 172 runs and go on to win the game by six wickets.
Regarding his position on the national team, the Arshdeep Singh stated that things become simpler when there is sufficient transparency from the team management. He said that when a role is well defined, players usually produce strong performances.
Roles for players are established. You bowlers know that you have to bowl in the beginning and middle of the overs.
Hindustan Times cited Arshdeep Singh as adding, “You come up with good performances when there is clarity.”
The 24-year-old revealed details about his own form as well. He remarked that he has improved with experience despite acknowledging his subpar results over the past 12 months. In the last match, he said he tried a couple different varieties, and he said it worked well for him, giving him some confidence.
“My experiences over the past 12 months have been inconsistent.” A couple of the performances were excellent, and I picked up some new knowledge. My performances were indifferent because there were some ups and downs as well. To be more precise, I have started bowling with the new ball lately, particularly on slow surfaces. I tried a couple different things in the last game, especially against left-handers, and it seemed to work and boost my confidence a little. If not, I’m attempting to hone my abilities,” Arshdeep Singh remarked.
