26 young players have been invited by Cricket Australia’s Youth Selection Panel (YSP) to compete in the Lanning vs. Perry Series, which will be held at the National Cricket Campus (NCC) in Brisbane this month.
As Australia gets ready for the 2027 ICC Under-19 T20 World Cup, the nation’s most talented female athletes will team up for three Twenty20 matches. Meg Lanning, a three-time Belinda Clark Award winner and seven-time World Cup champion, will serve as the Lanning Squad’s assistant coach but will work closely with every player during the series.
An outstanding leader, Meg Lanning led the Australian women’s team to unprecedented domination during her tenure as captain at the age of 21. Players will take part in workshops throughout the week that are intended to foster relationships and emphasise overall growth in addition to the games.
With assistance from Lanning and Australian women’s assistant coach Gavan Twining, the two teams will be coached by state and territory pathway coaches Cassie Brock (Cricket Victoria) and Natalie Schilov (Cricket Tasmania).
Through a nomination procedure, the YSP, with assistance from State and Territory Associations, finalised the selection for the series.
“The Lanning vs. Perry series has become an essential component of an extensive player pathway for the best young female cricketers across Australia,” stated Sonya Thompson, Head of National Development at Cricket Australia.
As we start a new cycle leading up to the 2027 Women’s U19 T20 World Cup, this age group is about to enter an exciting time.
“We are thrilled to have Meg Lanning join the team as the series’ assistant coach. Our top up-and-coming cricket players have the amazing chance to spend a week studying under one of Australia’s most accomplished players.
“The goal of the education sessions, which are led by CA High Performance staff, is to familiarise the upcoming generation of cricket players with the standards and procedures necessary to compete at the highest level while also assisting them in developing as individuals off the pitch.”
