Due to a back ailment, Lance Morris was ruled out of the 2023 Ashes series. He last appeared in the Australian side for the ODI series against the West Indies in February, following his return. In addition to making his debut for his country, he took wickets in the third game played in Canberra during the series. However, a side strain throughout the series has prevented him from appearing.
He was scheduled to play Major League Cricket with the Seattle Orcas, but the scans revealed a hot area in his back, thus he was forced to skip Australia’s current white-ball tour of the United Kingdom. The pacer acknowledged that the healing process has been “frustrating” while he is still receiving treatment.
It’s been a little annoying. I suppose you would refer to it as a stress fracture, however our scan revealed that it lacked the typical stress fracture’s inherent features. Thus, initially, there was some uncertainty over its precise nature, Morris stated, citing sources.
“The difficult one for me was that while I was bowling, I didn’t genuinely experience any back discomfort. I have an MRI on my back every month to make sure everything is progressing as it should. Additionally, it has been healing and clearing up, so that’s a plus,” he continued.

Morris’s ability to bowl at over 150 kmph brought him attention. His skill work remained lacking even after keeping up his fitness, and he was unable to work on it for over eight weeks. With his contract with Cricket Australia still intact, he hopes to improve as a year-round cricket player.

It’s annoying to have to take a few months off. At this point in my career, I have a contract with Cricket Australia and am transitioning into a 12-month player. I kept getting ready to go [to MLC], but I was never able to make it. The bright side is that I feel stronger than ever and have maintained my fitness. Morris went on, “But if I disregarded it and carried on with things, there’s every chance that I would sit out a full year,”
