The franchise and domestic county championship season has started, and some well-known cricketers will compete in these events. Some fresh and seasoned athletes have already dazzled the fans and analysts with their outstanding performances at the beginning of the 2025 season.
The second seasoned player who will also be available for county and franchise cricket is Ashton Turner, an all-rounder for Australia.
Despite his lack of effect in international cricket, Turner has consistently performed well in domestic cricket. In addition to agreeing to participate in the two county champions games at the end of June, the 32-year-old has accepted a contract with Lancashire for the forthcoming Vitality T20 blast.
Additionally, Ashton Turner has stated how excited he is to play for the county squad.
After two years with Manchester Originals, I know Emirates Old Trafford well, so the chance to join one of the biggest county cricket clubs in England is really exciting for me. I am looking forward to returning home this summer and wearing the red rose for the first time, Turner said.
“The Blast is a competition that I have enjoyed participating in, and I have always wanted to test myself in the County Championship, so I am very excited about that,” the all-rounder from Perth continued.
In addition to Turner, Lancashire’s director of cricket performance Mark Chilton also voiced his happiness at signing the batting all-rounder, discussing his contributions to the team in the forthcoming tournaments.
Chilton stated, “We are extremely happy to have Ashton on board for the entire Vitality Blast group stage. He will also offer another excellent overseas option for the County Championship matches during that time.”
“We have been trying to add a strong middle-order player to our T20 team, and Ashton fits the bill by offering another spin bowling option. He will immediately feel comfortable at Emirates Old Trafford since he has a great deal of familiarity with it from his time with the Originals,” Chilton continued.
