Twitter Reactions: Lacklustre India fail to threaten Australia in Adelaide

In the second Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT 2024–25), held at the Adelaide Oval in Adelaide, Australia decisively defeated India. India won the toss and chose to bat first, but the hosts only allowed them to reach 180 runs. Thanks to Mitchell Starc’s six-fer in their opening innings, the hosts demonstrated why they have been winning pink-ball Test matches for years.

With a stunning century of 140 runs off 141 deliveries, Travis Head once again stole the show. Marnus Labuschagne’s 64 off 126 was a great compliment. With both hitters smashing them all over the Oval, the Indian pacers had a difficult day on the pitch. Together, Mohammed Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah claimed eight wickets, with Siraj taking the crucial wicket of Head before upsetting the Australian tail. The Pat Cummins-led team finished their innings with a massive 157-run lead after getting bundled for 337.

Responding to the Australian pacers, the Indian batting was unable to establish a significant lead. At one point, the team was hoping to be bowled under 150, but Nitish Kumar Reddy’s innings of 42 gave them hope. Cummins eventually got rid of him through Nathan McSweeney. The tourists managed to eliminate the deficit in some way, but the lower order was able to add 19 runs to the total, which the Australians were able to easily chase down and win by 10 wickets. In their second innings, the Australian captain’s five-wicket haul was the team’s largest boost.

When Australia lost the Perth Test, they came back to win the series. Brisbane will host the next match in the five-match series, which is currently tied at one.

Here’s how the fans reacted to Australia’s dominant win over India in Adelaide:

“Travis Head used abusive words while I was celebrating his wicket. He also lied in the press confrence by saying that he said ‘well bowled’. We all saw and heard what he said to me.”

The Indian team should take away from this Test match that they need to focus more on practicing their batting rather than their sledging.#INDvsAUS

Nitish Kumar Reddy has saved us from an innings defeat. He’s the find of the series. #INDvsAUS pic.twitter.com/a7O4XoWAtO

Congrats @patcummins30 for the five-wicket haul! 8 now total as skipper! Always feels nice to see you take wickets! #INDvsAUS

Rohit Sharma lost last 4 out of 4 test matches as a captain, out of which 3 were home test matches. Nobody will talk about it. He is not test captaincy material. Taking a team down in this beautiful format of the game. #INDvsAUS #RohitSharma

India never played Ashwin in overseas & here they changed the winning combo dropped Sundar for him with 0 contribution in the match.

Ind played with 7 players in this test while Rohit, Kohli, Rana & Ashwin enjoying holidays in Aus via BCCI tourism.#INDvsAUS

What suddenly happened to this great Indian batting lineup? It looks fragile mainly after NZ series and they seems to be weak to all kinds of bowling. An exception is the 3rd innings at Perth #battingcollapes #INDvsAUS #BGT2024 @BCCI @GautamGambhir
