On and off the pitch, spinner Kuldeep Yadav disclosed that he has been hanging out with veteran all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja. He revealed that in preparation for India’s forthcoming five-match Test series, which starts on June 20, he has been picking Jadeja’s brain and learning from him.
Kuldeep has so far only appeared in one Test match in England. However, Jadeja is the clear favourite to be India’s first-choice spinner during the trip due to his versatility. If the pitch conditions favour two spinners, Kuldeep is probably going to be in the starting lineup.
“I feel such a huge privilege to play with Jadeja. It goes without saying that Jadeja and [R] Ashwin have excelled in recent years. They were quite helpful to me when I made my debut in India. Given the way the England batters are batting right now, we have been talking a lot about how to bowl to specific batters even now, Kuldeep added.
It’s true that I spend a lot of time with him, both outside and on the pitch. In terms of tactics and field placements, it has really been really beneficial to me, and he has also offered some advice,” he continued.
Rohit bhai cannot be replaced by anyone: Kuldeep
On the team bus, Kuldeep Yadav stated that he has purposefully chosen to sit next to Jadeja, where Rohit Sharma usually sits, in order to learn from him. He acknowledged that since Ravichandran Ashwin is no longer playing, he is taking advantage of every chance to pick up tips from any veteran player who is accessible.
“I will never be able to replace Rohit bhai. Simply said, I’m hanging out with Jaddu bhai a lot. Since Ash bhai [Ashwin, who is now retired] isn’t there, it’s obviously very important for me as a spinner. I’ve learnt a lot from Ash bhai, and now that he’s not there, [I’m hoping to learn from] whichever senior player is there,” Kuldeep said.
