The 41-year-old disclosed in his post-match remarks that he will consider retirement after the conclusion of the IPL.
Former Indian cricketer Krishnamachari Srikkanth stated that Dhoni’s physical condition will determine his participation in next year’s tournament, in response to his post-match comments. Former Australian opener and former CSK teammate of Dhoni, Matthew Hayden, disclosed the piece of advice he received from cricket legend Steve Waugh during his playing career. Hayden believes that once Dhoni considers his retirement, the next nine months leading up to the next IPL season will be difficult for him.
Steve Waugh once told me, ‘once you think about retirement, you’re retired.'” That is how difficult it can be. “Those nine months were very, very long,” Hayden said.
