Virat Kohli’s nephew Aryaveer recently explained why he chose to play leg-spin instead of batting like his well-known uncle. The spinner has already drawn notice after being acquired by South Delhi Superstarz for INR 1 lakh during the Delhi Premier League (DPL) 2025 season.
Although Aryaveer, the son of Virat’s older brother Vikas Kohli, has not yet played for Delhi at the age-group level, he has trained at the West Delhi Cricket Academy under his uncle’s long-time coach Rajkumar Sharma.
The child disclosed that after viewing films of Shane Warne and Yuzvendra Chahal, he decided on leg-spin.
“From the beginning, I bowled. I started doing leg-spin because I liked it. I watched a lot of Shane Warne and Yuzvendra Chahal footage. He was quoted by NDTV as saying, “That’s how I became a leg-spinner.”

He’s a good kid who works very hard at his training: Sarandeep Singh
The leggie did not play in any of the games even though he was selected by the South Delhi-based team. Sarandeep Singh, the head coach of the South Delhi Superstarz, commended Kohli’s work ethic and discipline, nevertheless.
“Aryaveer is my coworker, but I don’t consider his last name. He’s a good youngster who always tries to give it his all while training hard in the nets. He actually arrives early for training. That gene, I believe, has been inherited. Although he is still very young, he is concentrating on his game right now. He will undoubtedly perform well and give it his all when the time comes. According to CNN-News18, Sarandeep Singh stated, “I will definitely try to give my best.”
The 15-year-old talked about the team environment and his preparations for the DPL’s second season during the season.
“The dressing room has a really laid-back vibe. The planning is proceeding smoothly. I’ve been getting a lot of help from Sarandeep Sir to get better at bowling since the first day. I don’t give it much thought. I mean, that’s what I think about, and I’ve come to play. There is a great deal of enthusiasm. This platform is large. “It will be enjoyable,” Aryaveer continued.
