Tom Moody, Harbhajan Singh, and AB de Villiers, all former international cricket players, offered their opinions on Virat Kohli’s time as captain of India. Before taking over as India’s all-format captain in January 2017, the Delhi cricketer assumed leadership as the country’s Test captain in December 2014. Following the 2021 T20 World Cup, he eventually resigned as T20I captain before losing his ODI captaincy. Virat returned to his original position as a specialist batter on January 15, 2022, after stepping down as Test captain.
When Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) defeated Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) to win the IPL in 2016, Moody, the team’s head coach, noted that while there were high hopes for Kohli’s captaincy, the outcomes were disappointing.
Moody stated on JioHotstar’s Rise of Champions that “the Virat era was an era of high expectation, but ultimately, disappointment.”
Harbhajan Singh, a former teammate of Kohli’s, also thinks that because he had some excellent players at his disposal, Kohli ought to have assisted the Indian side in winning more championships.
Virat’s team has the potential to win three or four trophies. Harbhajan Singh stated, “I still think they had a strong team, even though I don’t agree with Karan Honge. If they didn’t win, there must have been reasons.”

AB de Villiers, who has been close to Kohli since their time together at RCB, came out to support Kohli, arguing that it is unfair to evaluate leaders only on the significant trophies they have won for the team.
To be honest, I find it annoying that people only consider a captain’s World Cup triumphs when evaluating them. “It’s unfair to say that guy is useless because he hasn’t won a World Cup,” AB de Villiers said.
