In order to help him rediscover his rhythm and form, former Indian cricketer Mohammed Kaif thinks Virat Kohli needs to figure out how to obtain more playing time. Kohli made his first appearance on the international scene since the Champions Trophy 2025 final in March during the current ODI series against Australia. In his storied ODI career, he did, however, record ducks in the opening two games.
Kaif advised Kohli to follow Shreyas’ example and play domestic cricket in order to return to the top of the rankings. The latter recently played for India A and, under challenging conditions, produced a valiant half-century in the second ODI.
I just met Shreyas Iyer, and I questioned him about his rhythm and stance. After taking a hiatus from red-ball cricket and not playing in T20Is, he is now only playing ODIs, so I was curious as to how he still plays with such fluidity. He has a sharp mind, is mentally oriented, and is an expert at his game. He participated in the India A matches as well, so I think Virat and Rohit ought to think about following suit,” Kaif stated in a video posted on his YouTube page.
Iyer always appears to be in fine form, while Kohli has struggled to establish himself at the crease, according to the cricketer-turned-commentator.
Being active helps Iyer stay fluent. He never appears out of touch, which is different from Virat right now. Iyer has been playing consistently, and it shows in his game, but Virat now appears uneasy,” he continued.
Rohit Sharma was knocked cheaply in the first game but showed promise in the second ODI, while Kohli has yet to make an impression in the series.
India has already lost the three-match series after losing in Adelaide and Perth. On Saturday, October 25, the unimportant third ODI will be played at Sydney’s Sydney Cricket Ground.
