‘Kohli, Rohit should’ve retired on field’ – India spinner

According to Indian cricketer Ravi Bishnoi, legends Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma should be given a fitting farewell in honor of their enormous contributions to the game. Following India’s victory in the 2024 T20 World Cup, both legends declared their retirement from T20 internationals and, subsequently, from the Test format.

Although Rohit and Kohli are still playing ODIs, their future in the format is unknown.

According to a number of sources, their October trip of Australia may be their last overseas assignment. The BCCI has frequently come under fire for failing to give many of India’s top cricket players—including Rohit and Kohli—fitting send-offs.

Since you always want to see them leave the field, it is quite startling. It would appear much better for such great legends to depart while still playing. In my opinion, no one comes close to what they have both done for India,” Bishnoi stated on the Game Changers podcast.

The young spinner admitted that such a farewell might yet occur because the BCCI may one day give the two legends a lavish welcome. He emphasized, though, that it did not alter the reality that both players ought to have been honored before Test cricket came to an end.

“You want them to have a good send-off, but perhaps they will also have it in ODIs, whenever they depart or choose to do so. due to the fact that nobody can predict when you will retire. However, it was startling when they both resigned because all of a sudden, it seemed like two places were empty. Who would fill them? Bishnoi said.

According to reports, Rohit aced the Bronco Test.

Rohit recently attended the pre-season fitness evaluations at the BCCI Centre of Excellence (CoE). According to reports, the seasoned opener not only passed the recently implemented Bronco Test but also put up strong scores.

In the meantime, the Indian cricket team is preparing for the Asia Cup 2025, which begins in the United Arab Emirates on September 9. On September 10, the Men in Blue will take on the UAE, the hosts, to start their campaign.
