Kohli: No IPL Bowling to Protect Batting Confidence

With four wickets in the Indian Premier League (IPL), Virat Kohli declared he would never bowl in the lucrative competition because he did not want his batting confidence to suffer. Since 2016, the 35-year-old has not bowled in the IPL.

In international cricket, Virat Kohli doosh-doosh medium-pace bowling has claimed nine wickets. For someone playing him for the first time, in particular, he can be difficult to select because he bowls off the wrong foot and has a range of slower balls under his sleeve. The Delhi batsman did, however, make it quite evident that he would never again desire to bowl in the lucrative competition.

Fans at the Wankhede Stadium in an IPL 2024 match between the Mumbai Indians (MI) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) wanted to see Kohli roll his arm over when the home team was rampaging towards a 197-run mark. The lucky striker claimed to have heard the supporters yelling, “Virat Kohli ko bowling do,” yet he nevertheless folded his hands and expressed regret.

“I’ll never bowl in the IPL. After hearing the fans chant “Virat Kohli ko bowling do” a few times, I clasped my hands and apologised.

They asked me to bowl in the match where MI scored 200 runs in 15 overs. Speaking to JioCinema, Kohli stated, “My confidence in my batting will also be gone.

RCB want to defeat CSK in order to finish their redemption tale.

After losing seven of their first eight IPL 2024 games, the Royal Challengers were in serious trouble. They did, however, win five straight games and turn things around quite spectacularly. They were able to maintain their position in the playoff race thanks to additional favourable outcomes.

At the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Saturday, May 18, RCB will play the reigning champion Chennai Super Kings in a pivotal match. If the hosts choose to bat first, they must defeat the Super Kings by a minimum of 18 runs, with a 200-run target or above. If RCB bats second, they will need to reach the goal in 11 balls or less in order to qualify for the playoffs.
