Virat Kohli is flying but RCB not clicking as a unit: Aaron Finch

On April 6, RCB lost their third straight game against Rajasthan Royals, despite Virat Kohli's eighth IPL century being in vain.

Virat Kohli is flying but RCB not clicking as a unit: Aaron Finch
In his commentary on RCB’s bowling, former Australian cricketer Aaron Finch pointed out that the team has been facing problems in that area for more than ten years. Following RCB’s third consecutive loss in the 2024 Indian Premier League, Finch made these comments. In their most recent encounter, which took place on April 6 away against the Rajasthan Royals, Faf du Plessis and company witnessed their opponents easily chase an 184-run goal thanks to Jos Buttler’s century.

“RCB has struggled with bowling for at least the past ten years. By now in the season, you’re always questioning the bowling if things aren’t going well for RCB. Right now, nothing about the unit is clicking. It’s obvious that Virat is flying; he had another excellent game tonight. With such an amazing platform, they’re striking at 120 for the remainder of the group, which makes it extremely challenging to enter the game.

The ball starts to fly across the park after that. They had a great start. With the new ball, Reece Topley was excellent. However, as Faf stated after the game, Mayank Dagar’s six-over delivery likely let the momentum move into Rajasthan’s changing rooms, where it was impossible for them to contain it. Finch spoke with Star Sports about this.

Michael Clarke, a former cricket player from Australia, also discussed Virat Kohli and the batting of the Royal Challengers of Bangalore. Interestingly, Kohli achieved his ninth league century in the match, meaning Buttler was not the only centurion. But it was in vain because there was hardly any backing for him.

“I can’t help but point my fingers at Virat Kohli.” I believe he performed the exact part that he needed to play, and he was wonderful. Because the hitters around him aren’t putting up enough runs, he needs to play right now. They’re not playing with enough freedom or confidence, according to Clarke.

“RCB left maybe fifteen runs on the ground, as I indicated at the beginning of Rajasthan’s innings. They made some difficult-to-understand decisions. Karthik is a skilled finisher, so I’m not sure why he didn’t enter the game sooner—possibly after Maxwell. Without a doubt, Cameron Green ought to have arrived before him. Thus, that choice was noteworthy. I believe that some hitters are out of form, and that’s probably harming them,” he continued.

Buttler had a slow start to the competition, but Clarke was full of praise for his batting prowess as he got back to form.

“I believe he conveyed his background. He overcame his difficult early phase of being quite scratchy. After he overcame that, he chose his areas and bowler, and, as he stated in his post-match statement, he simply supported himself.

He probably could have been out a few times. He exuded confidence that he would eventually score runs. I will simply continue to play the way I have always played and make the shots I have always made, and it has worked.

However, I believe the captain had a significant impact. Jos was able to be content with being six out of seven balls and not hammering every ball out of the middle of the bat, I believe, because of Sanju Samson’s excellent first-ball arrival and play. Thus, in my opinion, such collaboration was noteworthy.
