[WATCH] IPL 2025 Final: Emotional Kohli in tears as he hugs Anushka after RCB’s historic win

The night’s high point was when RCB legend Virat Kohli broke down in tears following the victory. He hurried over to give his wife, actor Anushka Sharma, a beautiful embrace. Anushka, who has been with Kohli since the 2014 Indian Premier League, made the occasion memorable by sticking by him through all the highs and lows.

In a dramatic IPL 2025 Final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) defeated the Punjab Kings (PBKS) by six runs to finally end their 18-year title drought and win their first Indian Premier League (IPL) trophy.

With a crucial 43-run contribution from Kohli, RCB amassed 190 runs in the first innings. With three wickets apiece, PBKS bowlers Kyle Jamieson and Arshdeep Singh made an impression. Despite Shashank Singh’s 61-run knock off 30 balls, PBKS put up a strong fight but were only six runs short.

The bowlers for the RCB remained composed under duress. Important periods from Krunal Pandya and Bhuvneshwar Kumar kept their team ahead in the closing seconds.

Throughout the competition, Kohli was in outstanding form, amassing 657 runs at an average of 54.75 in 15 games, including eight half-centuries, all of which helped RCB win. His leadership abilities and dependability were crucial for the Bengaluru-based team.

With 19 points, RCB secured a spot in Qualifier 1 versus PBKS in Mullanpur after finishing second in the IPL 2025 points standings. With a superb bowling performance, they controlled the match and guaranteed a direct berth in the championship match. However, PBKS recovered and advanced to the finals by defeating the five-time champion Mumbai Indians (MI) in Qualifier 2.

Rajat Patidar’s leadership allowed RCB to accomplish what they had failed to do in past seasons: win the title. The victory represents a turning point in the history of the franchise.
