KL Rahul will be India's key player on Day 5 at Lord's - Anil Kumble

In the last session of Day 4, India lost four wickets in 17.4 overs while chasing a target of 193 on a challenging pitch. KL Rahul While players like Akash Deep, Karun Nair, Shubman Gill, and Yashasvi Jaiswal were removed, KL Rahul remained undefeated at 33 off 47 deliveries. On the fourth day, India is at 58/4 at Stumps.

India and England’s third Test match at the storied Lord’s Cricket Ground in London is in a precarious position as the home team has to win by 135 runs while the visitors are searching for six wickets. Going into the final two Test matches in Manchester and London, the victor will lead 2-1.

KL Rahul , according to former India captain Anil Kumble, will be crucial for the Asian powerhouses on the last day of the Test match. According to Kumble, the opening batsman must not only get off to a strong start but also sustain the innings through to the end, despite the opinion of some analysts that the Karnataka cricketer must provide the visitors with a strong start on Day 5.

“The major man will be KL Rahul.

He must stay till the very end, not only give India a strong start, if they are to surpass this total tomorrow, Kumble stated on JioHotstar.

Rahul had a rough start and was lucky to gain an early reprieve when Chris Woakes made a catch, according to the former Indian head coach. Rahul, however, appeared much more confident at the crease following the let-off.

When he first reached for the ball, I thought he resembled Joe Root. That’s when Chris Woakes was given the opportunity. It was fortunate for him to be dropped. However, Kumble clarified, “He looked the part, just like he did in the first innings, after that. He started waiting for the ball to come onto him.”
