KL Rahul, an Indian batsman, recently talked about how difficult it was for him to adjust to various forms while yet being expected to perform well in each format in practically every game. However, the top hitter stated that he would not mind constantly proving himself.
The Delhi Capitals batsman acknowledged that every player in sports must perform well in practically every game, and he added that this is true for everyone. Convincing the selectors to remember their performance in their most recent competition, he said, was the challenging part.
“I have no problem always proving myself. To consistently perform in every competition is the nature of all sports. Anywhere in the world, that is true of international cricket players. That’s not the difficult part, though; the decision-makers appear to have forgotten the player’s performance in the most recent competition.
In an interview with Sky Sports, KL Rahul stated, “It has been difficult for me.”
The comment was a reference to his post-match conference remarks following India’s Champions Trophy 2025 victory, in which he asserted that every time he plays, his place in a format is questioned. The most he could do, KL Rahul added, was to give the team his all in the role that was given to him. He questioned what else he could do.
“I constantly get asked questions when I return to the ODI circuit after a four to five-month absence after performing well in a series. People question where I’ll fit into the team and whether I’ll even make the playing XI. Sometimes it makes me ask myself, “What else can I do?” However, I’ve always given it my all wherever I’ve been asked to play, and I think I’ve done my job as well as I could,” KL Rahul had stated during the press conference held after the game.
In the meantime, he went on to emphasise in the most recent interview that India’s next ODI assignment would be in around five months from May. After a while, he thought it was difficult for all batters, not just himself, to adjust to a new structure. KL Rahul acknowledged that after winning the CT 2025, he became emotional when he spoke at the post-match conference.
Because of the lengthy English Test summer, the next ODI tournament may take place five months later than expected. People are writing and saying that “we need to look for players who can play the 2027 World Cup or the World Cup after that.” However, it’s not only a problem for me; all cricket players face it. During the press conference (after the Champions Trophy semifinal), I became a little emotional and said that,” Rahul continued.
