During the second ODI of the three-match series between South Africa and India, KL Rahul, India’s backup ODI captain, was clearly irritated with Prasidh Krishna. Even though he took a few wickets, Prasidh was ultimately the most costly bowler on both teams as India lost the high-scoring match in Raipur by four wickets.
In the second innings, Prasidh was bowling to Tony de Zorzi when the conversation was captured on the stump microphone. In a recent conversation, KL Rahul, who is typically composed on the pitch, expressed dissatisfaction with Prasidh’s short-ball tactics despite not being instructed to do so.

“Nin tale odsbeda, Prasidh. Haaku helid. Helidini en haakbeku anta, adanna haaku (Prasidh, don’t think). Follow instructions.
KL Rahul could be heard telling Prasidh, “I told you what to bowl, do that.”
Rahul was then asked, “Taalege haakla (Should I bowl at his head?)” by Prasidh. In response, KL Rahul said, “Taalegela beda eega.” Bandidini Prasidh Heli. No need to bowl at his head, or taalege haaktidiyalla. I told you not to do that, yet you’re still doing it, Prasidh.
The series was tied since India was unable to defend 359. Prasidh gave up 85 runs in 8.2 overs in the second ODI after giving up 48 runs in 7.2 overs for a wicket in the series’ opening match in Ranchi.
On Saturday, December 6, the Men in Blue will play the Proteas in the third and last ODI of the 50-over phase at the ACA-VDCA Stadium. Five Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is) will follow the ODI series from December 9 to December 19.
