Spencer Johnson, a cricketer with KKR, recently revealed which of Jasprit Bumrah and Mitchell Starc’s yorkers he would rather face. Bumrah and Starc are two of the best players in the game when it comes to using the specific variant, and they both have a track record of performing immaculate yorkers.
A rapid-fire round involving Johnson, the left-arm quick who participated in four IPL 2025 games for KKR. Bumrah was his answer to the aforementioned query. In an ESPNcricinfo episode, the left-armer concluded that Bumrah’s yorkers were simpler to negate than Starc’s.
Bumrah and Starc have worried even the greatest batsmen by letting loose yorkers whenever they choose, whether they are using the new ball or the old one. They are a great asset to any team because of their toe-crushing deliveries, particularly in the last overs. Many batsmen have publicly acknowledged how unplayable both bowlers are at their best.
Johnson’s IPL career hasn’t been particularly memorable thus far. He began his IPL career with the Gujarat Titans in 2024. He started the auction with a base price of INR 50 lakh, but his value skyrocketed to INR 10 crore. He took four wickets at an economy rate of 9.43 in five games, though, so his efforts were not quite commensurate with the price tag.
In the upcoming season, KKR acquired him for a reduced price of INR 2.8 crore.
During his four IPL 2025 games, he was flung about the field and gave up runs at an economy rate of 11.73. With just 12 points from 14 games, the reigning champions ultimately came in eighth place on the points standings. For the Mumbai Indians (18 wickets in 12 innings at 6.67) and Delhi Capitals (14 wickets in 10 innings at 8.61), respectively, Starc and Bumrah had performed far better.
