Keshav Maharaj expressed his happiness at being given the chance to play the two Test matches against the West Indies. The left-arm spinner declared that he is proud to play the longest format and that he is devoted to the game.
The Proteas defeated the West Indies by 40 runs on Saturday, August 17, in Guyana, following a tie in the first Test match between South Africa and the West Indies.
In the two Test matches, Keshav Maharaj was the standout player and finished first with an average of 16.08 wickets taken. Player of the Series went to him in recognition of his great play.
“All I want to do is play. I was looking for a chance. I’m grateful for the opportunity. I attempted to perform in England. They made clear to me what they expected from me. I simply keep trying to give it my all. I simply tried to bowl balls with wobbling seams. I get lost in my lines as I try to swing. In essence, I attempted to bowl it at the sticks,” Maharaj remarked following the match.

Wiaan Mulder, an all-rounder who seam bowls, had a great performance, particularly in the second game. After recording a duck in the first inning, he scored a vital 34 in the second. In the first and second innings, he claimed four and two wickets with the ball, respectively. Speaking after taking home the Player of the Match trophy, Mulder expressed his delight in his performance in Test cricket.

The Caribbean side was suffering at 104/6 in the fourth innings, needing to reach a goal of 263 runs, but Gudakesh Motie and Joshua Da Silva put together a dynamic combination of 77 runs. But Maharaj ended the alliance when he dismissed Motie for a well-made 45.

In the end, he put the finishing touches on the series victory for South Africa by getting rid of No. 11 batsman Jayden Seales. He also claimed the crucial wicket of Da Silva.
