India’s left-arm swing bowler Arshdeep Singh has agreed to represent Kent in five County Championship games.
In the LV= Insurance County Championship in June and July, Arshdeep Singh will be available for home games against Surrey and Warwickshire as well as trips to Northamptonshire, Essex, and Nottinghamshire, pending approval.
For Punjab Kings in IPL 2022, Arshdeep had a breakout season, turning becoming their go-to bowler in the dying overs and eventually capturing 10 wickets from 14 games at an economy rate of 7.70.
In England last July, the 24-year-old Arshdeep Singh made his T20I debut. He has 29 international appearances for India and has played all three of his ODIs to date in New Zealand in November. He was a standout performer for India at the 2022 T20 World Cup in Australia. He has taken 25 wickets in seven first-class matches of his career so far, with an average of 23.84 and an economy rate of 2.92.
Rahul Dravid, the current men’s head coach of India, who played with the team in 2000, reportedly told Arshdeep Singh that he had heard good things about Kent.
Arshdeep Singh declared, “I am eager to play red-ball cricket in England and continue honing my first-class talents. Rahul Dravid previously informed me that the club has a rich history.
As of now, he is one of three international players who have been confirmed by the county, the others being South African spin bowler George Linde and Australia speed bowler Kane Richardson, both of whom will compete in the Vitality Blast.
Kent’s director of cricket, Paul Downton, stated: “We are excited to welcome a player of Arshdeep Singh talent to our team for five summer games. He’s proven to have elite talents with the white ball, and I have no doubts that he can use those same skills effectively with the red ball in the County Championship.”
