The ICC Men’s and Women’s Players of the Month for April 2025 are Kathryn Bryce, the captain of Scotland, and Mehidy Hasan Miraz, an all-rounder for Bangladesh.
Mehidy is the first player from Bangladesh to win the men’s monthly award in more than two years and only the third overall. Mushfiqur is the other Bangladeshi player to have received the accolade, while Shakib Al Hasan was the last to do so in March 2023.
He won the accolade thanks to his batsmanship and ball skills in a two-Test home series against Zimbabwe. For the first time in his career, his purple patch allowed him take the second position among all-rounders in the ICC Men’s Test Player Rankings.
After ending with 15 wickets, including three five-wicket hauls, and recording his second Test century (104), the 27-year-old was named Player of the Series. Bangladesh won the second match at Chattogram by an innings and 106 runs, tying the series 1-1.
Mehidy, who also won Player of the Match in Chattogram, defeated Ben Sears of New Zealand and Blessing Muzarabani of Zimbabwe to win the prize.
Mehidy Hasan Miraz declared: “Winning the ICC Men’s Player of the Month title is an amazing honour.
For any cricket player, the ICC Awards are the pinnacle of acknowledgement, therefore it means a lot to me to be chosen by people all across the world. This accolade feels just as significant as being awarded Player of the Tournament at the 2016 ICC Under 19 World Cup, which was a huge boost early in my career. Moments like these remind me of my path.
“I’m genuinely thrilled. I shall be much inspired by this honour to continue doing my best work and helping Bangladesh succeed internationally. As cricket players, we want to have an influence and make our fans happy. This kind of acknowledgement from the ICC inspires me to keep working harder and giving my best effort for my nation. This prize also goes to my coaches, teammates, and supporters, for whom I am grateful.
Bryce won Player of the Series for her exceptional performance at the qualifier, but it was insufficient for her country to advance to the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025, which India will host.
In five games, the 27-year-old scored 293 runs at an average of 73.25, including the game-winning 131 not out against Ireland. In addition, she scored 60 against Thailand and 91 against the hosts, Pakistan.
In addition to taking six wickets during the competition, Bryce easily won the honour, defeating Pakistani captain Fatima Sana and West Indies captain Hayley Matthews, who were also shortlisted due to their Qualifier performances.
“Winning this award is truly an honour,” Kathryn Bryce remarked. It’s made even more remarkable by the fact that the world cricket community is voting for it; it was incredible to be nominated alongside two players of the calibre of Hayley Matthews and Fatima Sana, who both had outstanding tournament careers.
“Our Scotland team had an amazing time competing in the World Cup qualifier. It was amazing to watch how we played cricket and how we evolved and matured in a format that we haven’t played much of together. It was also fantastic to witness so many different players step up and take leadership of the game at different points in time.
“The quality of cricket was excellent throughout the entire tournament in Pakistan, and every match was extremely tight. Being a part of the competition was fantastic, and maybe we’ll get more chances to build on the momentum we established there.
