In an effort to stop such tragedies, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said the government is thinking of moving Bengaluru’s M. Chinnaswamy Stadium outside of the city. On June 4, 11 people were killed and numerous more were injured during the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) IPL 2025 win celebrations.
Siddaramaiah said that the government is searching for a long-term solution and expressed profound sadness over the occurrence. He disclosed that his government is considering moving the stadium.
“The administration is going to investigate moving the cricket stadium. No government should allow such an awful occurrence. “This incident has harmed the government and me personally,” Siddaramaiah told the reporters.
“In this case, five police officers have been suspended. Both the political secretary of the chief minister and the head of intelligence have been replaced. “Adequate action has been taken and the case has been taken seriously,” he continued.
The chief minister acknowledged that the Bengaluru stampede was not the result of reckless government action. He stressed that the individuals accountable for the sad event face legal action.
“There is nothing wrong with the government. Although this situation is heartbreaking, the administration did not make a mistake. There is no issue of humiliation for the administration because those found guilty have been prosecuted,” Siddaramaiah said.
Siddaramaiah claimed that at 5:45 PM on June 4, he learnt of the deadly rush outside the stadium.
Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar was present at the ceremony at the stadium, which started at approximately 6:10 PM, although he did not.
Siddaramaiah has declared that the relatives of the deceased would receive INR 25 lakh instead of INR 10 lakh. He stressed that during this trying period, the government is supporting the impacted families.
