Kapil Dev's advice to struggling Indian batters -'Go back to the basics and practice'

After the series against New Zealand ended, Indian batsmen appeared very uneasy. Rishabh Pant, Shubman Gill, and Sarfaraz Khan all had brilliant moments, but the batting effort was below par overall, and the team lost the series 3-0 at home. India has been under pressure to win the Border-Gavaskar Trophy since then since they need to win the series 4-0 to guarantee their place in the World Test Championship final.

Former India captain Kapil Dev spoke about the same topic and suggested that the batters improve their fundamentals and practice more. According to him, the players should put in a lot of training before the Australia series, which starts on November 22, as sitting in the room won’t help them pick themselves back up.

Get back to the fundamentals. Always practice, always practice. If you say that sitting in the room will make me better, then it won’t happen. Simply put, practice more if you are having trouble. It will be better for you the more you practice,” Kapil said.

At least 1000–2000 runs would have been my total if I had played golf in addition to cricket: Kapil Dev

In the meantime, the 1983 World Cup-winning skipper has discovered a new love in golf and plays frequently in the Delhi NCR area after retiring from cricket. The 65-year-old said golf improved his ability to focus and thinks he would have scored more runs in international cricket if he had played the game earlier.

In my opinion, playing golf can help with concentration. When I played cricket, I would have scored at least 1000–2000 runs if I had also played golf.

Because one second is all that matters when you hit the ball in golf, and the same is true in cricket. Each of them enhances the others,” he continued.
