During the five-match T20I series against England, Mohammed Shami made his comeback to the Indian squad following a 14-month absence due to a knee injury. The famous Kapil Dev stated that he should be given more time to regain his rhythm, even though the seasoned seaman hasn’t yet gained his feet.
During the England T20I series, Shami participated in two games and claimed three wickets. Two of those wickets, though, came from the tailenders. During his two appearances in the current ODI series, Shami claimed two wickets at a costly economy rate of 6.57. The Bengal pacer lost the second ODI by 66 runs in 7.5 overs.
Shami’s lacklustre play has worried Indian supporters, but Kapil Dev asked them to have a little more patience as the 34-year-old is recuperating from a serious injury.
Recovering after an injury isn’t that hard when a player has a positive outlook. But the issue still stands: will he be able to have the same effect despite his injury? Unlike batters, it takes time, and he will need to play a lot of games. Regaining your rhythm takes time, especially if you haven’t bowled in six months or a year and are recovering from an injury. Shami is incredibly talented; hopefully, he recovers completely and avoids repeat injuries. The bowler is afraid of injuries like these, thus if a player needs additional time to recover, he should take it, Kapil Dev stated on Cricket Adda.
Regarding Jasprit Bumrah’s injury status, nothing is yet certain. The 31-year-old’s absence will significantly hurt India’s prospects of winning the Champions Trophy, according to Kapil.
“There’s no denying that Jasprit Bumrah has accomplished more in the last two years than any other fast bowler in the world, in my opinion. The team suffers when key players like him get injuries. “I hope he returns soon,” he continued.
