Kane Williamson seeks to return for the ODI World Cup following an ACL tear.

Kane Williamson, the captain of New Zealand, plans to compete in the eagerly anticipated ICC Cricket World Cup in India after a six-month absence. At the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on October 5, the Kiwis will play their first game against England.

During the first game of the 2023 Indian Premier League (IPL) between Gujarat Titans and Chennai Super Kings, he tore the cruciate ligament in his right knee. In order to recuperate quickly, the 33-year-old underwent knee surgery and extensive rehabilitation.

It would be fantastic. Naturally, you want to return to playing as soon as you are healthy and prepared. One would assume it would be around the time of the World Cup, but Kane Williamson was reported by The Daily Star as saying, “I’m still extremely focused on the rehab day-to-day and don’t want those targets to extend it to the point where you take a backward step.

The 33-year-old continued, “For running, it’s not quite 100 percent, but making good progress.” The 33-year-old has already resumed batting in the nets.

The Black Caps’ head coach, Gary Stead, said there was no set time for Kane Williamson to make a comeback and play. He did however express his delight at the advancements the captain is making.

It has been incredibly satisfying to observe the development and keep making small strides in the right direction, Stead added.

Stead added that he was unconcerned about New Zealand’s performances on their tours of Bangladesh and England.

Naturally, it’s not perfect, but I didn’t have much of a say in the matter. It’s the only choice I have, and the thought of competing in another World Cup is incredibly exciting. You always want to be a part of it, but I didn’t want my rehabilitation to be determined by that. Having a carrot in the back of your mind at all times is beneficial, he continued.
