Justin Langer, a former Australian coach and legendary opener, has cautioned the hosts from discounting India’s top player Virat Kohli in the run-up to the Border-Gavaskar Trophy begin on November 22. Langer still thinks it’s risky to underestimate players like Kohli, even in light of India’s recent 3-0 series loss to New Zealand at home and his current form dip.
India’s record of winning the Border-Gavaskar Trophy since 2015 and winning series after series in Australian conditions is commendable. But lately, Kohli has been under more criticism, with only one fifty-plus score in his last 10 innings. Australian cricket star Ricky Ponting has offered his thoughts on the situation.
“In every sport, they are champions for a reason, so you should never write them off. The team will be under tremendous pressure, so how they respond will be crucial,” he told The West Australian. “There are 1.5 billion cricket fans in India, and when you add all the other cricket fans worldwide, they demand nothing less than perfection.”

Kohli also has a remarkable record in Australian cricket, having amassed over 1,300 runs at an average of 54.08, including six hundreds in 13 Test matches.
