There have been many moments that have caught the public eye in the ongoing multi-format series between the West Indies and India; however, none of them have as much traction as Windies’ wicketkeeper Joshua Da Silva’s little chats with Virat Kohli.
During the Test series, Da Silva was captured saying that his mother was coming to watch the Test game between the West Indies and India, and she was only coming to watch Kohli bat. Furthermore, it seems like her dream became a reality as she got to meet her favourite player after the end of the day’s play on Day 2 of the second Test.
In a clip that has been doing the rounds on social media, Joshua Da Silva’s mother hugged and kissed Virat Kohli as the Indian players were taking the bus back to their hotel.
“It’s a privilege to hug him, and we’re all lucky to have someone so great in our lives. I never thought I’d meet him in a million years,” recalled Joshua’s mother.
He is a fantastic cricket player, so it is truly an honor. The best batter in history is Virat Kohli. I think everyone should mimic Joshua’s discipline, she continued, and I hope he does.
In the second Test, Virat Kohli’s century kept India in control.
The top-order’s masterful performance on Day 1 and the outstanding performances by Virat Kohli, Ravindra Jadeja, and Ravichandran Ashwin on Day 2 of the second Test between India and the West Indies allowed the visitors to maintain their superiority in the match.
In order to maintain the momentum, Kohli finished his century on Day 2 with 121 runs in 206 deliveries. All-rounders Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin also had an impact with the bat. In 152 balls, Jadeja scored 61 runs, and Ashwin added 56 runs in 78 pitches.
In the first innings, the Indian team scored 438 runs, and they continued their strong performance on Day 2 of the second Test as well. The West Indies, meanwhile, sought to improve upon their batting display compared to the first Test. The hosts improved their performance when they came out to bat, with openers Tagenarine Chanderpaul and Kraigg Brathwaite appearing to be in the zone. Their preparations, though, were derailed when Jadeja claimed the opening wicket.
