The England Men have revealed their lineup for the third Test in their current series against Sri Lanka, which is scheduled to take place at London’s Kia Oval. Having taken an insurmountable 2-0 lead in the series, England have decided to give pacer Josh Hull a chance for the match, which begins on Friday, September 6. Notably, Hull comes in for Matthew Potts, the only other alteration to the starting lineup.
Standing 6’7″, Josh Hull broke through to the Leicestershire upper ranks in 2022 as an 18-year-old. Years of labouring in the club’s Academy system culminated in this. Hull has played in 40 games overall, comprising 10 First Class, 9 List A, and 21 T20 matches. Hull has taken 16, 17, and 24 wickets in turn.
Josh Hull, who played for the Manchester Originals for a few games in The Hundred 2024, has represented Leicestershire in the Vitality Blast thereafter.
He was left out of the 15-man teams for the first two games, but the management brought him in for the setup of the series finale, which was, at most, a dead rubber.
But Hull was part of the England Lions team for the tour match against the islanders, and he made an impression by taking wickets of Angelo Mathews, Dhananjaya de Silva, and Dinesh Chandimal in the first innings. His match statistics at the end of the game were an astounding 20.1-1-74-5.
It’s interesting to note that in August 2022, Hull played for the Young Lions Invitational XI against the Sri Lanka U19s.
Fans will be eager to watch the young player perform throughout the multi-day game, so they will be watching with interest for the left-arm angle and the high-arm release.
In relation to the series, The Three Lions will take on the Lankans in the hopes of winning handily. They had won the first two matches by margins of five wickets and 190 runs, respectively.
