Josh Hazlewood lauds RCB teammate Virat Kohli's fitness regimen, stating, "He is always out there first and leaves last."

Australian fast bowler Josh Hazlewood discussed his Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) colleague Virat Kohli and the qualities that make him successful, praising Kohli’s work ethic. In IPL 2023, the RCB star batsman amassed 639 runs in 14 games at an average of 53.25 and a strike rate of 139.0.

He finished fourth on the Orange Cap list and was his team’s second-highest run scorer behind captain Faf du Plessis. Kohli scored consecutive centuries in his final two matches of the tournament, against the Sunrisers Hyderabad and the Gujarat Titans, but RCB failed to qualify for the Playoffs on the final day of league play.

When asked about sharing a dressing room with Kohli over the past few years, the Australian fast remarked that the Indian batter’s work ethic distinguishes him. Hazlewood praised the 34-year-old’s fitness and other aspects of his game, observing that when it comes to training, Kohli is among the first to arrive and the last to leave.

“I believe that what strikes out most about him is his work ethic. His talent work, particularly his batting and fielding, came next, then his fitness. He is always the first to arrive and the last to depart, and his training intensity is always so high that he drags everyone else along with him. This can trickle down to other players and help them develop as well, Josh Hazlewood told the ICC.

Josh Hazlewood supplies Australia with a significant boost prior to the WTC Final.

Josh Hazlewood and Kohli are poised to meet in the ICC World Test Championship 2023 final now that the Australian fast bowler has returned to camp and regained full fitness. Josh Hazlewood has dismissed Kohli three times over the years, but the former RCB captain has an impressive average of 55.70 against the Australian pacer.

In the meantime, the WTC 2023 Final between India and Australia is scheduled to commence on June 7 at The Oval in London. This is one of the most prestigious cricket tournaments in the globe. The championship is an open opportunity for the top test-playing nations to ascend to the summit of the Test rankings and claim the Test mace.
