Josh Brown, the starting pitcher for the Brisbane Heat, gave a tremendous performance in the Challenger against the Adelaide Strikers, showcasing his incredible power hitting. With a bat he made himself, Josh Brown fashioned his destiny and hit a record 12 sixes in what can only be called one of the greatest knocks in BBL history.
The 30-year-old right-hander, who is a bat-maker by trade, destroyed the Strikers’ potent offense to put the Heat ahead 7-214 at the midway point. With a maiden century in just 41 balls, Josh Brown tied Glenn Maxwell’s record and was only surpassed by Craig Simmons in the history of the BBL.
Amazingly, Brown’s twelve sixes in one Big Bash inning broke the records held by Chris Lynn, Chris Gayle, and Simmons. With 140 runs off 57 balls, he finished his innings with the third-highest individual BBL score. However, Harry Nielsen, the wicketkeeper for the Strikers, stopped his effort at a 13th six.
“I simply continued hammering it because they kept disappearing. During the innings break, Brown spoke to Fox Cricket about his outstanding performance. “It just makes me feel so happy to be able to do that in front of my family, I know it makes them proud and it makes me feel proud as well,” Brown said.
In addition to being the highest score in a BBL final, Brown’s innings also mark the Heat’s fastest century. The fans saw an incredible performance of hitting, which prompted Australian great Ricky Ponting to make a statement on Channel Seven’s commentary.
“We’ve seen something very special there from Josh Brown, magnificent innings,” Ponting remarked.

Before the game, Brisbane Heat had won handily, winning by 54 runs while the Adelaide Strikers were bowled out for 160 trying to reach 215. Josh Brown’s outstanding effort won him the honor of Man of the Match, and justifiably so.
Thinking back on his accomplishment, Brown said,
With any luck, I’ll be alright. It hurts a little in the hip. It hasn’t quite registered. I continue to pinch myself. After the first pull shot, I could tell I was in the zone. All I wanted to do was stay balanced. I’ve worked on my defense, but the power was always there. When the day comes, I’m going to go big. “The SCG finale will be intriguing,” the player said following the game.
