England revealed their ODI and T20I squads for their forthcoming multi-format series against the West Indies, just hours after their campaign at the 2017 ODI World Cup came to a conclusion. To conclude the series, the team will play five Twenty20 internationals after three one-day internationals against the Windies. December 3 is the date of the first ODI, while December 13 is the date of the first T20I. The team made numerous changes to its white-ball teams for their ODI World Cup 2023 match against the West Indies compared to the one that traveled to India. The ODI team to play the West Indies consists of just six World Cup players, and it’s noteworthy to see that Jos Buttler has been kept as captain for both competitions.
In addition to Jos Buttler, the other players who were at the World Cup are Gus Atkinson, Harry Brook, Brydon Carse, Sam Curran, and Liam Livingstone.
Moreover, Ollie Pope, Josh Tongue, and John Turner—three players who do not possess an ODI cap—have been included to the team. In relation to the T20I team, seasoned all-around player Moeen Ali kept his place in the team for the shortest format. Dawid Malan, though, was not selected for either format.
Following their elimination in the ODI World Cup 2023 group stage, Buttler’s England will need to sharpen their performances and take stock of their results in order to defeat the West Indies in the multi-format series.
