Jos Buttler returns from injury as England announces squad for West Indies tour

England has released their limited-overs squads. Regular captain Jos Buttler will make his much anticipated return to white-ball cricket. Interestingly, the English team will be touring the West Indies later this month.

Jos Buttler was forced to miss the most recent white-ball series against Australia, which was played at home, due to a calf injury that kept him out of action.

Although England was able to tie the T20I series in that series, they narrowly lost the ODI series. Harry Brook and Phil Salt assumed the leadership positions while he was away.

Speaking of the team, Jafer Chohan, an uncapped legspinner, made it onto the national team among the newcomers. Chohan has participated in 23 Twenty20 matches, however he has never participated in a List A match in his career. John Turner and Dan Mousley are the only two uncapped players besides him. It’s interesting to note that both of them warmed the bench while playing for England in the just finished series against Australia.

Overall, England has announced a 14-player team. It has also been disclosed that two additional players among the players who will play the Test series against Pakistan in the coming days would be included to the national team. Notably, the final choice will be based on the team’s makeup for the Third Test, which is set for Rawalpindi on October 24.

Regarding the tour date, England will play West India starting on October 31. Both teams will play three Twenty20 Internationals and five One-Day Internationals throughout the tour.
