‘I’m not sure that’s quite true’- Jos Buttler refutes Ravi Shastri’s claims on England training

'I'm not sure that's quite true'- Jos Buttler refutes Ravi Shastri's claims on England training

Jos Buttler, the captain of England, denied comments made by former India coach Ravi Shastri about the team’s training during the tour following England’s 3-0 series loss to India. During his commentary during the third ODI, Shastri asserted that the visitors only had one net session during the tour, which consisted of three ODIs and five T20Is. Buttler retorted that the team had done a lot of training during the journey.

England suffered back-to-back losses during their poor white-ball tour of India. Although their lack of preparedness was questioned, Shastri’s assertions over their alleged lack of training fuelled the flames. The England captain, however, denied the allegations, stating that although they had practiced extensively, they did not conduct net sessions prior to the final two ODIs in Cuttack and Ahmedabad.

“That may or may not be true. Although there have been a few occasions when we haven’t trained, we have undoubtedly done a lot of training during the tour. I believe the tour has been very lengthy, with a few lengthy travel days. It goes without saying that we want to create a highly positive workplace, but don’t assume that means we’re not trying hard enough. cited Buttler as saying, “The guys are desperate to perform, do well, and improve.”

Although Buttler acknowledged that his team had done enough preparation, England’s performances during the tour were unsatisfactory. They have lost four straight series since their dismal 2023 World Cup campaign, including the most recent ODI series. The English captain is upbeat about their prospects in the forthcoming ICC Champions Trophy, though.

“We want the outcomes to boost confidence and win games because winning matches is far more satisfying than losing. They’re perhaps the best team in ODI cricket right now, and we’re up against them in their own environment. We haven’t played to our full ability; in the last three cricket matches, we’ve had a few moments in games, but never enough to force outcomes or appear to be winning games. However, the fact that we haven’t yet reached our full potential or performed at the level we know we can gives us hope that we will eventually reach it and be a formidable squad in the Champions Trophy,” he continued.

Throughout the trip, he has bowled incredibly well: Jos Buttler,

The Three Lions’ susceptibility to spin bowling was one of their weak points. Of their 78 wickets, 42 fell to spin in the two white-ball formats. Buttler supported his players, though.

“No worries. We just need to be better, like I mentioned. All of the men’ games against spin must be played with extreme confidence. The shots are all in the hands of men. Joe Root is perhaps one of the world’s top spinners. “Definitely a nice guy to have on our team,” he continued.

Adil Rashid’s performance was one of the few highlights for the tourists. With seven wickets, including two dismissals of Virat Kohli, the seasoned leg-spinner was the ODI series’ best wicket-taker.

“He’s bowled fantastically well all tour, he seems to keep getting better and better, so really pleased with how he’s performing,” Buttler said.
