Jos Buttler scored an incredible century against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at Jaipur on April 6, 2024, and Rajasthan Royals (RR) head coach Kumar Sangakkara praised him for it.
After struggling in RR’s opening three matches, Buttler found his groove again as he hit an unbeaten century off 58 balls in pursuit of a 184-run total. With five balls remaining, his century helped the team captained by Sanju Samson to a comfortable six-wicket victory.
Sangakkara declared following the game, “Jos Buttler is the best white-ball opener in the world. He just needed to sit back and ignore some of the noise.”
Buttler revealed his worries and tensions as a result of his recent bad form while thinking back on his knock. Despite only scoring 13 runs, he also acknowledged that he felt at ease during the match against the Mumbai Indians. In his 100th IPL game, he also made history by being the second hitter to score 100 runs.
“You still experience those worries and tensions no matter how long you’ve played the game. It’s necessary to remind yourself that everything will be alright at times. We will be alright eventually if you just keep working hard and digging in. Even if I only scored 13 points or something, I felt extremely good in the last game,” the 33-year-old remarked during the post-game press conference.
With a six-wicket victory over RCB, RR extends their winning streak.
Sanju Samson’s Rajasthan Royals won by six wickets over Royal Challengers Bengaluru, extending their winning run. In the ongoing tournament, this was their fourth straight triumph.

In the game, RR invited RCB to bat first after winning the toss. With 125 runs added for the first wicket by Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis, RCB got off to a quick start. While Kohli led the way and hit a brilliant century to help his team register a formidable 183/3, the RCB captain was dismissed for 44 runs by Yuzvendra Chahal.
When Yashasvi Jaiswal was dismissed in the second ball of the innings, RR suffered a blow during the chase. Buttler and Samson, however, put together a second-wicket partnership of 148 runs. Mohammed Siraj removed Samson after an incredible 69 runs off of 42 balls. In the meantime, Buttler struck a six-figure score, leading Rajasthan to an incredible victory.
